At DTJH, the 9th grade English students participated in a fishbowl discussion about Book 5 of The Odyssey. Students brought questions about how Odysseus’s decision to leave the goddess Calypso’s island, even after she proposed immortality and a life of happiness to get him to stay. Students explored his decision to leave and suffer a hard trip, bringing their best talking points and open minds to hear their classmates’ perspectives and connections to the reading.

Students in grades 3rd-6th are gearing up for EVE's 2nd Annual Chess Tournament. During the school year students in 3rd- 6th grade get the opportunity to learn the fundamental of chess in our Master Minds class. This class is taught by Mr. Mel Robinson. Students learn to win with humility and lose with grace, understanding that the true essence of chess lies not just in victory, but in the journey of self-improvement and growth. By the end of the class, students emerge as confident and capable chess players, equipped with the knowledge and skills to enjoy this timeless game for years to come. We are looking forward to our students demonstrating what they have learned on Thursday.

Where were you August 21, 2017? Our DTK6 staff and students were viewing the eclipse from our playground. Here are some flashback photos from that event. Do you recognize anyone in these pics? This year, we will not be at school, but we can still view this spectacular event from our homes. Thank you to Arkansas STEM Coalition for our eclipse glasses! Let us know what your plans are for the day!
